PIXIA Technology Workflow

Cutting-Edge Technology

PIXIA® has developed cutting-edge technology that represents a quantum leap in solving the issues related to ever-growing data volumes, focused on the principles of a Data Container. The data container provides increased storage I/O, scalability and interoperability to power GEOINT data to be accessed across enterprise networks and cloud-based architectures. Any easy to use OGC Web Mapping Service (WMS) is published that any user can connect to with little effort.

Why Containerize?

Why Containerize?

Because when encoding GEOINT data, applications naturally take advantage our breakthrough storage input-output (I/O) engine that provides blazing speed and unlimited scalability. Abilities for high-performance, line-rate data access on any storage vendor, scaling into the petabytes in size, and fast small-block random access are transparent.

BUT, your data is always accessible as source files. Our Cloud File System (CloudFS) makes use of Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) to facilitate collaboration between users in managing data files. Users can map our data container as any shared drive and access the source.

Organized Data

Data Management

HiPER LOOK® is an intuitive, drag-and-drop system that lets you organize varying types of imagery, maps or terrain. Disparate data could be collected using different sensors, have mix-match projections, or varying numbers of channels or resolutions. HiPER LOOK® provides a manner in which to consolidate files into homogenous layers of data, like organizing a closet.

You’ll be surprised at how easily common layers are built into beautiful skins.

Patch Data

Rapid Updates

And when new data arrives, rapid updates can be patched into existing layers with a click of a button. No need to rebuild an entire cache of a layer; data is copied into place spatially and is immediately accessible within seconds.

Collecting data real-time? Live-Encode! With our watch folders, users can real-time ingest data as it is received and disseminate.

Data Reach

Reach Forward

Allowing data to live where it was collected: Theater, Ground Station, and Forward Operation Base (FOB). No longer does an organization need to ship or move data physically from a collection point but rather make that GEOINT data instantly accessible!

Reach forward and analyze GEOINT data.

HiPER LOOK Enterprise

Enterprise Solution

The HiPER LOOK® solution is comprised of two (2) components: a Server and an Encoder. The Server component is an Enterprise-class software system that provides multi-threaded capabilities, multi-core support, unlimited client connections, enterprise scaling, and RESTful web services (OGC WMS). Included within the enterprise solution users can create lightweight deployable services for smaller footprints such as USB drives.

HiPER LOOK® provides support for an unlimited number of data types in varying formats, projections, and resolutions. BIG raster data is our forte.

Satellite Photography

Commercial Satellite

Commercial Satellite imagery consists of photographs of Earth collected by private-owned companies. Images can be in the electric-optic (EO) or infrared (IR) spectra. Images have many applications in meteorology, agriculture, geology, forestry, landscape, biodiversity conservation, regional planning, education, intelligence and warfare.

HiPER LOOK® supports data from a variety of vendors to include DigitalGlobe, GeoEye, and Astrium.

Aerial Photography

Aerial

Aerial imagery is the taking of photographs of the Earth from an elevated position. Cameras may be mounted on a variety of platforms for collection to include fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, balloons, blimps and dirigibles, rockets, kites, poles, parachutes, and vehicle mounted poles. Aerial imagery is used in cartography (particularly in photogrammetric surveys, which are often the basis for topographic maps), land-use planning, archaeology, movie production, environmental studies, surveillance, commercial advertising, conveyancing, and artistic projects.

HiPER LOOK® supports data from a variety of distributors.

LiDAR Model

LIDAR

LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging, also LADAR) is an optical remote sensing technology that can measure the distance to, or other properties of a target by illuminating the target with light, often using pulses from a laser. LIDAR technology has application in geomatics, archaeology, geography, geology, geomorphology, seismology, forestry, remote sensing and atmospheric physics, as well as in airborne laser swath mapping (ALSM), laser altimetry and LIDAR contour mapping. LIDAR is an emerging BIG data source and the collection format has been standardized to LAS.

HiPER LOOK® supports data in a variety of file formats to include LAS.

HyMap

Hyperspectral (HSI)

Hyperspectral imagery is collected from across the electromagnetic spectrum. Much as the human eye sees visible light in three bands (red, green, and blue), spectral imaging divides the spectrum into many more bands. This technique of dividing images into bands can be extended beyond the visible and hyperspectral sensors use a vast portion of the spectrum to look at objects. Certain objects leave unique 'fingerprints' known as spectral signatures and enable identification of the materials that make up a scanned object. For example, a spectral signature for oil helps mineralogists find new oil fields.

Hyperspectral systems provide applications in agriculture, mineralogy, physics, and surveillance.

Known as HSI in the defense world, this type of sensor is an emerging BIG data source and is supported by HiPER LOOK®.

Imagery Types

National Military

National data is used to refer to digital-imagery products and image-related products produced by the U.S. Department of Defense and its agencies.

HiPER LOOK® supports all data products in a variety of formats to include the National Imagery Transmission Format Standard (NITF).

Imagine a USB stick, an External Hard Drive, an SD card. Now, what if you could carry your GEOINT data for an entire region or country with you? Portable, Disconnected, and Interoperable.

20 to 1 Compression

Compression

The HiPER LOOK® Server Deployable allows users to compress PIXIA Data Containers with JPEG2000 compression to reduce the disk storage footprint of the data; making this data more portable, easily manageable, and interoperable to any application on any device.

As an example, an uncompressed data container (A) containing 3,569 files, 3.75 TBs, 15-meter coverage of the entire world could be compressed 20:1 to a 262 GB footprint (B) on disk. NOW, you can carry that with you on any external hard drive!

Connect and go

Direct Connect & GO

Plug in the external hard drive to a disconnected laptop and watch as the HiPER LOOK® Server Deployable launches a lightweight OGC web service. No administration rights needed and any thick or thin client application on the laptop can instantly access a whole world of data!

Field users, Analysts, or SOF operators in austere environments can easily share data on a local network by connecting other workstations, laptops or wireless devices.

Lightweight solution

Lightweight Solution

The HiPER LOOK® Server Deployable provides a lightweight, single-threaded server that publishes RESTful web services (OGC WMS) allowing easy access to GEOINT data. Old school data workflow would require shipping multiple hard drives or DVDs. Why? When the future is on a small footprint. Optimized for 5 client connections, you can now connect directly to your data on the GO!

Interoperability

Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards are technical documents that detail interfaces or encodings. Software developers use these documents to build open interfaces and encodings into their products and services. These standards are the main "products" of the Open Geospatial Consortium and have been developed by the GEOINT community membership to address specific interoperability challenges.

By PIXIA® implementing these standards, HiPER LOOK® has achieved a level of interoperability for all thick and thin client applications that users can leverage.
