Pixia

Pixia Story

Pixia Corp. is a dynamic commercial software company, created in 1999 and based in Sterling, Virginia. In the 1990's, the founders accurately predicted the coming flood of digital technology in America that would threaten to drown commercial organizations in uncontrollable data access problems. During that time, the thought of a single graphics card with 10,000 times the memory of a supercomputer, or a single sensor that could easily collect 16,000 TV screens' worth of imagery per second was simply incomprehensible. However, Pixia had identified a rapidly approaching needs gap in data access technology, and years before technological advancement reached its vast tipping point, the Company had already begun to design solutions to fill this gap.

Technology Trailblazers

Pixia has always been on the leading edge of data access, scalability and performance. On the cusp of this unprecedented technological advancement in America, the founders identified four main drivers of digital technology to expect within a decade: an explosion in data collection capabilities; major advances in display technology; a dramatic increase in storage density as well as a decrease in its cost; and an enormous increase in network bandwidth. The founders focused Pixia's mission on addressing the myriad of needs created by these advances within the commercial industry. At that time the commercial industry lacked graphics cards, and their standard desktop computers lacked the performance capabilities required to keep pace with technology. Pixia therefore developed its own hardware platform. This unique blending of hardware and software technology - a rare and valuable knowledge base for any software company - set Pixia apart as a leader in adaptability and versatility.

Pixia was providing solutions for the commercial industry when 9/11 occurred and shook the country. In the wake of the terrorist attacks, the founders focused their efforts toward solving data access problems for the DoD. The founders worked diligently for over five years to communicate the unique value of Pixia's software to the Defense departments, and to impart the specific ways in which it would revolutionize access to massive digital imagery files within the DoD and its branches around the world. The Company's proven technology was the much-needed solution to the outrageous quantities of data the DoD attempted to manage. Given its ability to seamlessly integrate with the Government's enterprise architecture, and its ability to easily keep pace with DoD's Next Generation Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, Pixia stepped in once again to fill a critical gap in data access.

Looking Ahead

Technological advances that necessitate rapid access to massive quantities of data will soon create a new set of challenges for non-DoD markets. These include medical, biometrics, public safety, gaming, and oil and gas. Based on its mature products and proven success in the Defense and Intelligence arena, Pixia is well poised to rapidly penetrate these additional markets.
